Peas are Go!

The 3rd attempt at our Pea Tent for the
organised by
is finally on the go.
The first attempt was eaten by grubs
The second attempt was grown in pots on the veranda
and was demolished by the birds,
flicking them all around when they were about 5cm high

On Monday, there was no school, so we took the opportunity
to plant the 3rd lot of seedlings and hope for the best.

I can't believe how patient he has been with the set backs.
He just says - oh well, we will just plant some more seeds.

Good luck little ones!

  3. Ooooh. I have such anxiety about slugs eating away all my pea plants over night... I feel for you! Good for you replanting and replanting. Might as well right.

I've heard you can sprinkle crushed up eggshells at the base of your plants and the slugs don't like to crawl on them...???

Don't if it works, but if I see nibbles on mine, I'm giving it a try.

    Blessings

  7. My fingers are crossed for you! My little pea plants this year were sabotaged by birds or possums (still trying to work out which!) My mother in law, after possums continued to attack her vegie patch, said that she discovered they stayed away whenever she put seaweed kelp fertiliser down, so when she left the bottle open on a continual basis next the vegie patch, they did not return. I am hoping this will work for the birds also...... I'm off to get some netting regardless!
