Kinder Gardens - Let Them Get Dirty!

The boys are very involved in our vegie patch,
but they just cant help creating their own little plots.
They find containers, a bit of compost and raid the
seeds we saved at the end of summer.
This one has corriander, lettuce and some sad broccoli.
I use this little plot when cooking and they feel very important
when I ask them to go out and pick some goodies
for the kitchen.

These little pots pop up all over the place.
I don't mind, there is worse things they could be doing.

The first born has taken it 1 step further,
he has taken some to school to grow with his mates.
It was all his idea, they have planted
corriander, lettuce and parsley.
(mine is the second from the left)

Even better - It only took a week for the seeds to shoot.

To see more kids in action on the growing front
pop over here

I have also started a group over on Facebook
where we can all post obout our patches,
swap pest control idea's, seeds,
tell us what you are planting now,
how you use/preserve your harvest
and so on,
it does not matter whether you plant in a pot or a paddock,
pop on over.

CHA Swapity Swap

Back in June, I signed up for a swap over at
My swap partner was blogless Laura.
I sent Laura some cards, a bookmark,

And a linen Laundry Bag.
We were both running behind in the swap,
And we both recieved our parcels yesterday.

Laura sent me sent me this great satchel/clutch
and a matching zip pouch.

I love the way Laura has applied the fabric to the
upper piece, very creative.
Thanks so much Laura, I love it.

And thanks to the clever chicks for organising the swap,
sorry we were late :)
To see some of the other swap goodies

Have a great day

Peas and Broccoli

This is our 3rd attempt at pea's for our Pea Tent.
The last lot were about 1/2 this height,
we had them growing on the verandah,
the birds got to them and pulled them out of their little pots.
This planting has been raised in the laundry on the
heated propogation bed.
We will harden them off, before planting outside.

Peter picked the first of our Broccoli this week,

There has been a few of these little chaps living in the crop,
but they dont seem to have done too much damage,
and better still,
I don't think I have eaten one yet :)

To see more participants in
Kinder Gardens, head over to

Have a great week

Our New Boy ! ! !

Last Saturday we picked up a lovely little fluffy parcel.
It's been very hard to photograph.....

Too fast...

Head looked down.....no head
And I thought it was hard to get decent photos
of the 3 boys....

He grabbed my camera strap....

Too sad....

Too fast again - look at his floppy ears "flying"

Lunch time...
He's a Spoodle, almost 11 weeks old.

He loves the boys
and they love him to bits

Welcome to our family Max!

Puff Painting

Looking for a simple crafty project for the littles?

I found this puff painting in MixTape Zine Kids Issue 7

It's made of simple ingredients, qiuck to make up
and not much mess :)

The paint gives a great 3D effect

Mix together equal parts SR flour and salt.
Add enough water to give the consistency of white glue.
Divide into small containers and add food colouring.
We cut up cerial boxes to paint on,
paper will probably be a bit thin.
Microwave the painting for about 30 seconds,
the paint will rise and harden.

Happy painting
