Spud Dig 2011

Way back at the beginning of October
the spuds were planted in their trenches.
Max did very well to control himself,
all those little ball like things
in the dirt, just tempting him.

A couple of weeks ago, on a warm summer night,
the digging began, to find the buried treausure.

It was all hands on deck

There was a flurry of activity
There was biguns and littleuns

And very proud harversters.
They dug about 25kg of spuds from the patch.
Well done boys!

Happy New Year.....

I always feel like this is the start of my year.
When school goes back.
Actually started last Friday, but I don't count that 1 day.
We now have a grade 3 boy, a grade 1 boy
and 4 year old kinder starts tomorrow for the little one.

I like the return of our routine,
I like to have a plan for the day,
rather than drifting from one task or activity to another
and not finishing anything properly.

Over the summer break
we had a lovely trip to Canberra,
then a few days in Beechworth,
then returned home to a flooded Horsham.
There are full lakes and water storages - what a turn-around

Hope you all had a nice break too

Jacqueline.

November was Sew Busy Too

Plenty of goodies left ZippyZippy HQ during November.

Plenty of Santa Sacks started to head to new homes.

Betty Bernina had quite the workout.

My little store is currently closed,
tomorrow I deliver Betty to the sewing machine beauty parlor
where she will have a well deserved service.
She can sit and chat to the other machines,
have a bit of a bitch and gossip,
find out who has been on the shelf the longest,
who is not top model anymore and so on.

I think it will be lonely without her.
Hope you are enjoying the "holiday"
It's definately no holiday here with 3 boys to entertain ;)

Be Good

Catching Up With Old Friends

A while ago - last school holidays I think,
I was very lucky and had an old school friend Emma
and her daughters drop in to say hello.
They live in the beautiful Barossa Valley and because the internet
has made the world a much smaller place,
Emma and I have caught up online.

One daughter is a bit famous - she has been on the cover of
Barossa Living Magazine - how exiting for their family!
An article was written about some local kids that love to cook,
The kids shared recipe's, tips and cooking mishaps and
had a lovely time doing a photo shoot.

And, here's Emma and I.
We were great friends at school back in the 80's
we lived in a little place town, Balmoral.
We have hardly changed a bit ; )
I did look for an old photo of us, but no luck.
I hope it's not that long till we catch up again.
Thanks for visiting girls!

Do You See What I See?

Back in November,
while driving down to Hamilton with a friend,
to visit the

we passed this paddock, just outside Cavendish...

Do you see what I see?
Is it my imagination, or are they
Christmas Tree Hay Stacks
created by a festive farmer...

Speaking of Christmas,
we have our very own decorations in the vegie patch.
Our first red tomato!
Every "Vegie Patcher" seems to want to have
tomato's by Christmas... this one will just be in time.

And, speaking of Christmas again....
the boys
is now in full swing for 2010,
will post about it after the chaos is over

Be Good

One Shot

I was taking some photo's of the strange clouds this morning.
As I walked back down the drive,
fidgeting with the settings on my camera,
to find the black and white option,
these 2 came around the corner.
I said, huddle up, I will take a picture of you.
This is the picture.
One shot, and one shot only.
That never happens with the 3 boys,
let alone adding a dog to the mix.
I love it.
Heath and Max are such good buddies,
they spend their days playing and exploring around the yard,
waiting for the school boys to come home.
This shot has captured their relationship perfectly.

Hope you are enjoying the Silly Season
